Life in the City: Catania

Catania is the second largest city in Sicily with over 300,000 inhabitants and is located at the foot of Mount Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe. Catania is a late Baroque city and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To Vincenzo Bellini, the composer and most famous Catanese, are dedicated the theater, an elaborate park in the center of the city, the airport and a pasta dish (“Pasta alla Norma”).
